Placencia, Belize

Nestled south of Mexico, east of Guatemala and next to the Caribbean Sea, Belize is an untouched paradise with an abundance of wildlife – both on land and in the sea. From its time as a part of the Maya civilization to its role in the British Empire, Belize has a rich cultural heritage reflected in the diverse people who now call it home.

The Placencia Resort is located on the Placencia Peninsula, a verdant, 18-mile long isthmus in southern Belize poised near the largest barrier reef in the western hemisphere and near the country’s extensive network of protected areas and parks. Each day you can watch the sun rise over the Caribbean and set over the Maya Mountains.

Just 100 miles south of the main international airport in Belize City, The Placencia Resort is also served by the small airport in Placencia. The resort is 8 miles north of the airport, and just to the north of the village of Maya Beach. Guests are welcome to use the complementary scheduled transportation to Placencia village to take in the arts and crafts and enjoy its bars and restaurants.

For those seeking relaxation, calming beaches run the length of the peninsula. If you're looking to explore, the reef offers some of the best diving in the country or head inland to one of the many national parks and forest preserves. In between, in Placencia lagoon, you may even see a manatee. We offer extensive tour and excursion packages around Belize.

Thirty years ago, Placencia was a small and quiet fishing village. Today it’s become a popular tourist destination with first class accommodations, while retaining the charm of yesterday. Placencia is located on the southeast coast of Belize. Described by travelbelize.org as "the coast with the most" for good reason.

Belize Barrier Reef

Enjoy uninterrupted views of the Caribbean and the perfect playground for water sports like windsurfing and kite boarding. The islands off Placencia are among the prettiest in Belize. Below the surface, diving enthusiasts will discover coral forests, schools of colorful fish and the biggest of them all: the whale shark. Fly fishermen stalk the picky permit on the flats in their grand slam bids while kayakers paddle from one post card to the next. For a more leisurely island hopping experience, climb aboard a catamaran, complete with a captain and catering staff.
