The Placencia Group (TGP) intends to design, develop, execute and operate a fully functional acute care hospital at The Placencia in the country of Belize. TPG envisions a Hospital comprised of a non-profit and for-profit facility approximately 100,000 to 130,000 square feet in size. Located a brief 10 minutes from the Placencia International Airport, the Hospital will feature a fully operational Emergency Room and Primary Care facility that will be the first of it's kind in this region of the country. International and domestic accessibility will be greatly enhanced when the TPG controlled Placencia International Airport opens late 2014.
Driven by both global and local demand for quality healthcare and fully supported by the Belizean government, including Prime Minister Barrow, Minister of Health (Honorable Pablo Marin) and Minister of Communication (Honorable Melvin Hulse), The Placencia Medical Center is designed to serve as a multi-use facility. The Medical Center will focus on core areas such as: Primary Care and Long-term Care, Medical and Nursing schools as well as Complimentary Medicine and Clinical Research which will focused around groundbreaking new techniques and applications in the field of Regenerative and Stem-Cell Medicine. The Placencia Medical Center will cater to local patients looking for simple primary care however it's core focus will be international medical tourists seeking a private, secure and exclusive resort experience to enjoy while addressing specific medical needs.
The master plan includes a medical office building (MOB) comprised of approximately 80,000 square feet to be used for administration, clinical research, training operations, medical and/or nursing schools as well as potential retail space. In order to handle the influx of visitors, TPG's intention is to include a parking structure that will accommodate approximately 250 vehicles of various sizes. All hospital, medical and MOB facilities will be built and owned by TPG while best of breed facility management operators will be engaged to manage the operations and staffing of specific facilities.
In an effort to maximize the positive healthcare-related impact on the Placencia Peninsula as well as drive revenues for The Company, TPG intends to focus on the following core areas: Hospital and Primary Care, Long-Term Care, Medical and Nursing Schools as well as Alternative Medicine and Medical Tourism. TPG is actively seeking strategic partnerships that can deliver operational expertise, staffing, accreditation and overall best of breed business practices. The Placencia Medical Center will be the first facility of its kind in the country of Belize and will set a new standard for healthcare facilities and medical tourism in Central America and the Caribbean Basin.
